Most of us at PROTEX® originally worked in the movie and film business. We’ve worked on movies like the one with the intergalactic robots that turn into cars and the one where a rich guy fights evil while dressed like a bat. We’ve also worked on thousands of other TV shows and television commercials.
Now you might ask yourself, what does that have to do with temporary surface protection? A lot.
Movies and TV shows was the birthplace of temporary surface protection. You see, most movies and TV shows are shot on locations that are rented. Whether it’s on a sound stage, in a modern office building in the city, a townhouse in the suburbs, or a huge mansion with wood floors made from trees harvested when George Washington was a baby – these locations need to be protected. Protect It Now or Fix It Later™ is what we at PROTEX® always say.
On all of these locations we needed a way to protect the floors, walls, doors, elevators and corners from damage, wear and tear and from Clumsy Carl.
Who is Clumsy Carl you may ask? Clumsy Carl is a guy that we’ve worked with for years. You probably know a guy just like him. If it can be broken, dropped, spilled, scratched, knocked over, ripped or stained, Clumsy Carl is able to find a way to do it.
Now – Carl is a good guy and a hard worker just clumsy – we think it runs in the family.
Bottom line is we’ve tried everything to protect the places we rented from Carl.
For close to a decade (OK it was only 7 years – we rounded up), PROTEX® worked with some of the nation’s top general contractors, architects and engineers to design, develop and field test what is the most versatile, durable and cost effective temporary job-site surface protection solutions available. Period.
Clumsy Carl was our proving ground. If it didn’t pass the Carl test, we went back to the drawing board.
Today, PROTEX® Products are available for everyone – construction pros and do-it-yourselfers. All our products are easy to install and remove, are reusable and are 100% recyclable.
